Born on June 19, 2008, in Hollywood, California, Tate Birchmore showed early interest in performance. Inspired by the dance crew Jabbawockeez, he began street performing at Seaport Village in San Diego, performing interpretive dances. This early exposure to live audiences ignited his interest in storytelling, setting the stage for his future in acting.
Tate’s transition from street performances to acting was marked by his involvement in a student film at Biola University. This experience of being on set resonated deeply with him, affirming his desire to pursue acting professionally. Tate began auditioning in Los Angeles for television series and films with support from his family.
Throughout his rising career, Tate has amassed an impressive list of credits. He portrayed Young Jerry West in HBO Max’s “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty” and Michael Caldwell in Apple TV+’s “Presumed Innocent.” His other roles include projects like “Single Parents,” “A.P. Bio,” and the feature film “Peppermint,” where he played the boy on the bus.
Balancing a demanding acting career with education, Tate’s academic achievements are impressive. He spent much of his childhood being homeschooled and later took college courses through the iLead program. By the age of 13, Tate graduated from Los Angeles Valley College with three associate degrees in visual effects, directing, and an Associate of Arts for university transfer.
Tate transferred to California State University, Northridge (CSUN) for a bachelor’s degree in cinema and television arts. He honed his skills in screenwriting and producing under the mentorship of Professor Dan Watanabe. Tate was 15 years old when he graduated from CSUN, a milestone that coincided with the release of “Presumed Innocent,” marking an important chapter in his life.
Family has been a constant source of support for Tate throughout his journey. His mother, Katherine Birchmore, played a crucial role in managing his early career, driving him from San Diego to Los Angeles for auditions. The family’s collective commitment led to relocating to Burbank to better accommodate Tate’s burgeoning career, demonstrating the sacrifices and dedication involved in nurturing young talent.
Outside of acting and academics, Tate has diverse interests, including music and equestrian activities. He plays guitar in a band called the “Tater Tots” and engages in horse jumping, proficient in both English and Western saddle styles. All these pursuits enrich his personal life as well as contribute to his versatility as an artist, allowing him to bring a broad range of experiences to his performances.
